Community Watch is a free program organized through the assistance of the North Riverside Police Department. The program involves you the residents and a coordinator from the police department to organize a meeting for a particular block in the Village. Basically, the program is designed to inform the residents about concerns in their neighborhood. Once the meeting is organized, the police department will deliver a letter to your residence with information about the date, time and location of the meeting. At the meeting we will discuss ideas and procedures on how and what to report when suspicious activities or crimes are occurring in your community. If you are interested in being involved and would like to arrange a meeting, please contact Community Watch Coordinator Tom Tauer at 708 762-5464 or via email at email@example.com for more information
Citizen's Police Academy
The North Riverside Police Department is sponsoring an opportunity for members of the community to become closely acquainted with the roles and responsibilities of law enforcement agencies. The Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA) is a free program designed to educate North Riverside residents about the structures and activities of their police department. The CPA is not a training class, but is an exciting informational class that offers a behind-the-scene look at law enforcement.
Our goal is to bring the police department and the community closer together. It is based on the concept that informed and educated citizens will be more supportive of law enforcement, and will be more productive in their community.
Typically the CPA will consist of (10) two hour training sessions. The class format will include practical demonstrations and hands on exercises as permitted, as well as lectures. The minimum age requirement to participate is 18 years old. This is a free program and class size is limited. All applicants will be subject to background and reference checks. Applications are available at the North Riverside Police Department, located at 2359 S. DesPlaines Ave. Please contact CPA Coordinator Tom Tauer at (708) 762-5464 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information
