Neighborhood Services

This committee was established in 1992 by Mayor Richard N. Scheck to respond to residents who need assistance but don’t know where to go. The Volunteer Block Captains open lines of communication, reach out to people and create “family bonds” between neighbors. Meetings are held throughout the year.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please call either Carol Spale at 447-4932 or Teresa at the Parks and Recreation Office at 442-5515.

Use of Commons Park

Use of the large, small pavilions and green spaces in Commons Park is on a first come, first-served basis. They cannot be reserved. Please remember that Village ordinances prohibit grilling and the use of alcohol in our parks. NRPRD programs and permits supersede any other event.

North Riverside Ridership ID

North Riverside residents age 55 or older or who are disabled or handicapped can sign up at the Parks and Recreation Department for a picture ID that will enable you to get discounted transportation for medical appointments and shopping in North Riverside. For more information, call 442-5515.

Blood Pressure

North Riverside residents can have their blood pressure taken the first Wednesday of each month from 9am to11am in the Village Commons. They can also have their blood pressure checked Monday through Friday, 1pm to 5pm at the North Riverside Fire Department. Take advantage of regular blood pressure checks and stay healthy.
