Community Information
Neighborhood Services
This committee was established in 1992 by Mayor Richard N Scheck to respond to residents who need assistance but don't know where to go. The Volunteer Block Captains open lines of communication, reach out to people, and create "family bonds" between neighbors. Meetings are held throughout the year.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please call either Carol Spale at 708-447-4932 or the Parks and Recreation Office at 708-442-5515.
North Riverside Ridership ID
North Riverside residents age 55 or older or who are disabled or handicapped can sign up at the Parks and Recreation Department for a picture ID that will enable you to get discounted transportation for medical appointments and shopping in North Riverside. For more information, call 708-442-5515.
Pace Bus Program
Along with the NR Rider Program, the Village of North Riverside has now implemented the Resident Pace Bus Program geared towards servicing the transportation needs of Senior Citizens and those with disabilities. Please be sure to read all of the parameters. You may call the Pace Bus Schedule Phone at 708-373-2922 during the hours of 9 am to noon Monday through Friday. Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance. Bus Operating Hours are 9 am to 3 pm. Monday through Friday. The fee is $1 per destination.
Blood Pressure
North Riverside residents can have their blood pressure checked Monday through Friday, 1 pm to 5 pm at the North Riverside Fire Department. Take advantage of regular blood pressure checks and stay healthy.
Co-Op Programs
For some of our programs and trips, we "co-op" with Brookfield and Westchester allowing residents from both communities to pay the same price.
The Giving Tree
A beautiful leaf on our tree is a perfect way to honor a loved one. Leaves are available for purchase at $60 each to be added to our Giving Tree located in the Village Commons hallway. We also have additional accessories that can be ordered at various prices. Please call the Parks and Recreation Office for more information. Come view our beautiful tree and choose your special leaf or accessory!
Volunteers
We are always looking for high-quality people to contribute to the success of our programs and events. If you are interested in finding something fulfilling to do or are in need of service hours, please stop by the NRPRD to complete a Volunteer Application. All volunteers will be subject to a background check.
Financial Assistance
Financial assistance for programs is available to North Riverside residents only. Applicants must be a North Riverside resident for one year prior to applying for financial assistance. Please complete the application and submit to the Parks & Recreation Department with proof of residency, income documentation and completed program registration form.
