North Riverside Senior Fair
Each year in May, the North Riverside Recreation, in conjunction with surrounding towns, representatives from cooperating agencies (such as Aging Care Connections), local nursing homes, senior organizations, retail stores, assisted living communities, and government agencies (Secretary of State), hold an informational fair in the Village Commons. The representatives will provide you with valuable information from their respective companies/agencies. The Secretary of State's Mobile Services Unit is also on hand for ID cards, vision screening, duplicate Photo IDs, and driver's license renewals.
For more specific information and to answer any questions, please contact the Recreation Department at 442-5515. View the Upcoming Events Calendar.
Handyman Services
For all seniors and the disabled. The Village is proud to offer the Handyman Program. This program aims to eliminate the elements of stress and sometimes danger from the lives of the handicapped and senior residents who need to perform minor repairs around their house but can no longer perform on their own. All the labor involved is paid for by the Village. The Village also pays for the supplies needed up to $25 with any remaining cost to be paid for by the resident.
The Handyman Program is designed for assistance with the most general repairs around your home. The program does not include remodeling. If the work needed is outside the scope of work offered by the program, the Village will provide a list of qualified contractors and assist in securing quotes for the repairs.
The program repair person is Will Beresheim from Public Works. The program works on a first-call first serve basis. Please call Public Works to be placed on the list at 708-762-5885.
Snow Removal Program for Seniors
The Village has contracted with a private company to administer snow removal services to our residents for all snowfalls of 2 inches or more at a reasonable cost. This program is for seniors 65 and older, disabled residents, and residents with a medical condition, which would prevent them from removing snow.
If you would like more information about this program or to sign-up, please stop by or call our Administration office during regular business hours at 708-447-4211.
